Envoys witness Rakhine burning

A team of diplomats from 43 countries observed the conditions of Rohingyas who took shelter in Bangladesh to escape persecution by Myanmar military. They visited the no man's land at Ghumdhum and Tumbru on Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Some houses inside Myanmar were set ablaze while the diplomats were visiting the area. They were astonished to see rising fume at that time.

In-charge of Ghumdhum police camp Imon Chowdhury said, two houses in Myanmar were burning when the diplomats were visiting Tumbru border. The envoys witnessed fume rising from places from the other side of the border.

Earlier, the team of diplomats visited the Rohingya camp in Kutupalong and praised Bangladesh for accomodatig the fleeing Rohingyas.

The diplomats said they raised the issue of Rohingya persecution in different international platforms and urged the Myanmar government to stop persecuting Rohingyas.

High commissioners, ambassadors, acting envoys and representatives from 43 countries accompanied by Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali reached, State Minister Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque reached Cox's Bazar airport around 11am.
