BNP Joint General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that the government is keeping silent on Rohingya issue because it is not elected by people's vote. He said these at a human chain organized by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) demanding to stop persecution of Rohingyas in Miyanmar and food and shelter for them in Bangladesh in front of National Press Club on Friday.

Mirza Fakhrul said Ziaur Rahman put diplomatic and international pressure to force Myanmar government to take back Rohingya refugees. But, now the government totally failed regarding Rohingya issue. It failed to take any measure regarding sheltering the Rohingyas, because it is not the people's government. "We demand that the ROhingyas are sheltered here now, and later put diplomatic pressure on Myanmar government to take them back," he said.

Member of BNP standing committee Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice Chairman AZM Zahid Hossain, Shamsuzzaman DUdu, and other leaders of the part were also present at the meeting.
