Labor Party Chairman Iran held in Ctg

Police on Tuesday have detained Bangladesh Labor Party (BLP) Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran along with its eight leaders and activists. They were arrested after a program in Chittagong Press Club. Senior Vice Chairman of BLP Engineer Farid Uddin and Mahbubur Rahman Khaled were among the arrestees.
The BLP Chairman told poriborton.com over phone that, "There were a meeting of our members in the district's Press Club. We were detained immediately after we came out of the meeting around 12:30pm. Now we are in Kotoali Police Station."
He said, "BNP leader Rizvi had been made the chief guest at the meeting. Police was creating pressure on us stating only one demand that we cannot make Rizvi our Chief Guest. We told them that he came here just to attend our program."
Iran claimed that he secured and oral permission last night. Police detained them after they finished the program as per schedule.
Demanding the release of BLP Chairman and its other leaders and activists, General Secretary of the aprty Hamdullah Al Mehedi said, "If they are not released before 3:00pm today, a dawn to dusk strike will be organized in Chittagong on Wednesday."
