Appear on Oct 5 or face arrest: court tells Khaleda

A Dhaka court said an arrest warrant for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be issued if she fails to appear before it on October 5 in connection with a case filed over undermining the flag and map of the country. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nur Nobi issued the order on Sunday after a hearing on a plea filed by Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique.
Earlier, the court summoned the former prime minister, asking her to reply the order on September 14. But she did not comply with the order, prompting the complainant to file a plea, seeking a warrant against the BNP chief.
Siddique filed the case against Khaleda and her late husband and former president Ziaur Rahman last year for undermining the flag and map of Bangladesh and the War of Liberation through including anti-liberation people into the government.
