BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's 72nd birth will be on Tuesday. The party members observed their leader's birthday by cutting a cake since BNP came to power in 1991, but last year the tradition was broken, no cake will be cut this year too, said party sources.

Requesting anonymity, a senior leader of BNP told poriborton.com Khaleda Zia ordered the party men not to observe her birthday considering the flood situation around the country. She ordered the leaders and activists to stand beside the flood affected people.

The former premier also sought prayer form the people of the country due to her physical condition.

Vice Chairman of BNP Shamsuzzaman Dudu said, "There will be no program organized by the party, but I cannot say if the leaders and activists will have any program  individually."

Office Secretary of the party Mohammad Monir Hosain said the Doda Mahfils (prayers)will be organized in districts on the day.

Zia was born on August 15, 1945 in West Dinajpur (Jalpaiguri in India) in a Muslim family. Her father was Iskandar Majumdar and mother Taieba Majumdar.
