Syed Shamsul Haq's 1st death anniversary Wednesday

The first death anniversary of eminent litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq will be observed on Wednesday. On the occasion, different socio-cultural organisations including Shilpakala Academy have taken elaborate programmes. Private television channels will air various programmes including drama in memory of Shamsul Haq.
Syed Shamsul Haq, one of the most popular writher in Bengali literature, died at United Hospital in the capital on September 27 at the age of 81.
Haq is an accomplished short-story writer, novelist, playwright and a very popular poet who was born on December 27, 1935 in Kurigram.
He received the "Bangla Academy Award" in 1966, "Ekushey Padak" in 1984 and "Swadhinata Padak Award" in 2000 for his contributions to Bangla
His literary works were included in the curricula of school, secondary, higher secondary and graduation levels of Bengali literature in Bangladesh.
Marking the day, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will formally unveil Syed Shamsul Haq memorial books and a songs book 'Tumi Ashbe Kobe' published by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy at Nattashala Milyanoton at 7pm on the day. Literature Rabeya Khatun will chair the function.
