Stocks close week up on large-cap vibe

Stocks ended the week on Thursday upward with rising trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges on higher activities of large-cap securities. The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 24.31 points up at 5,861.12. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 2.25 points up at 2,111.34 and with 1.44 points up at 1,305.62.
The daily average trade value at DSE was 2.1 percent up at Taka 832.85 crore. But the trade volume was 7.8 percent down at 23.08 crore shares.
Out of the 333 traded securities, 175 closed higher against 140 losing issues when 18 remained unchanged.
During the week, the top five gainers were Monno Ceramic, Kay & Que, Intech, Dulamia Cotton and Modern Dyeing.
The five major losing companies were GQ Ball Pen, NLI1STMF, BD Auto Cars, Keya Cosmetic and BD Lamps.
The top five turnover leaders were BBS Cables, BBS, Lanka Bangla Finance, Fortune Shoes and ACI.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week with upward trend with its major CASPI index ending 60.87 points higher at 18,260.60.
Like DSE, most of the issues traded here closed higher when both the trade value and volume of shares increased.
