Two suspected terrorists were killed and another was injured in separate incidents of shootout with police in the city early Monday. The slain terrorists’ are- Babu alias Guddu Babu, 35, and Al-Mahmud, 24. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Kotwali Police Station Mizanur Rahman Mizan told BSS that Police earlier arrested listed terrorist Guddu Babu in connection with the killing of Jubo League activist Saidur Rahman.

Later police conducted a drive along with Babu to arrest his accomplices behind Provati School in Railway area of the city early Monday. 

Sensing the presence of law enforcement agencies, criminals open fired targeting police which prompted them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight 15 minutes between them, he said.

At one stage Babu and his accomplice Al-Mahmud received bullet injuries, the OC said, adding that they were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where on duty doctors declared them dead.

Police also recovered one pipe gun, three rounds of bullet and five sharp weapons from the spot. 

They were wanted in four cases, including killing of Jubo League activist Saidur with Khulna Kotwali Police Station, the OC added. 

In another incident, suspected terrorist Yasin Arafat received bullet injuries in a gunfight between police and his cohorts in Noornagar area of the city, said OC of Sonadanga Police Station Momtazul Haque.

He was also accused in six cases, he added.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Monira Sultana confirmed the incidents.
